Ibraaz Reader 009/01
Following the launch of Platform 009 in May, a yearlong research project into the genealogies of performance art in North Africa and the Middle East, Ibraaz has published essays, interviews, projects and videos. We also produced two online publications for exhibitions at the Hayward Gallery and Delfina Foundation, and released a number of Platform 009 Responses by Hassan Darsi, Nezaket Ekici, Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Joe Namy, Farah Khelil, Adel Abidin and Timo & Nadia Kaabi-Linke, which we present here.
Ibraaz also conducted a number of interviews during JAOU, a conference organized by Ibraaz at the Bardo Museum in Tunis in May. Titled Visual Culture in an Age of Global Conflict, this conference attracted a roster of international speakers. We include responses to the event here from Tania El Khoury, Hiwa K, Rita Alaoui, Adel Abidin, Omaïma Manai, Ghazi Gherairi, Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi, Kamel Lazaar, Antonia Carver, Mouncef Dhouib, and the event's chairperson Anthony Downey.

The third iteration of JAOU took place at the National Museum of Bardo in Tunis from 28–29 of May, 2015. Artists, curators, academics, lawyers and diplomats discussed 'Visual Culture in an Age of Conflict'. Panel themes included the future of art institutions, artistic practices, international relations in the Middle East, and Platform 009's focus: performance art across the region. |

In September, we will publish essays by Doa Aly and Sondos Shabayek, interviews with Yazan Khalili & Lara Khaldi, Reza Aramesh and Oreet Ashery, alongside projects by Seth Ayyaz, Fayçal Baghriche, Hasan Hujairi, and Hassan Khan.
